Papers relating to David Lawson, master of SS FRESHFIELD which was lost at sea in 1905

The SS FRESHFIELD departed from Virginia on 7 February 1905 on a voyage to Hamburg but was never seen again. The ship was mentioned in the House of Lords in March 1905 by Lord Muskberry in a speech on the dangers of British cargo steamers carrying deck loads across the Atlantic during the winter.
