The Han River at Hankow

A general view from the Han River of waterside buildings at Hankow. They are mainly of timber construction and many are supported on stilts. Washing is hanging from a large number of these buildings. A number of small boats are at the river bank. In the centre of the photograph is a trot of large junks with substantial deckhouses and each has a long pipe on top of the deckhouses.
