Shipping in Whitstable harbour, Kent.
Shipping in the harbour at Whitstable looking north-west from the inner harbour at low tide. All of the vessels are seen from off their starboard bows. In the left distance is the brigantine Emily (1850) partially obscured by the quay. In the foreground is the brigantine Ada (1872) almost dried out. On the right is a line of vessels alongside the quay. The second ship in the line is the brigantine Magic (1876) with a hoist of flags at her mainmast. The third ship in line is the 2-masted topsail schooner Christabel (1867). There are at least five other sailing vessels in the background two of which are flying flag hoists. Vertical format.
