A Japanese woman with a broom

A colourised portrait photograph showing a Japanese woman holding a broom with a bamboo handle. She wears a kimono and a headscarf. To the left of the image is a wooden bucket or stool and a metal tool, possibly a shovel. The woman is standing on panels of woven straw matting. The scence takes place indoors, with a wall or screen visible in the background, as well as a painted hanging depicting blossom in the background to the right of the image (possibly the same room as depicted in ALB0214.108). Original caption (handwritten in pencil to the right of the photograph): 'Japanese maid servant'.

This photograph was probably taken in a commercial photography studio.
