Looking west from the path at the top of Greenwich Hill, London, near Wolfe's statue showing the closed gate in the boundary wall of the Royal Observatory with the Meridian Building on the left and Flamsteed House on the right. To the right of the gate is the Shepherd Clock and it is showing the time to be 08.28 am. on a summer morning. In the foreground two men are sitting on a bench with decorative cast iron ends. On man is wearing a suit and a bowler hat and the other is wearing a peaked uniform style cap. The emulsion has lifted and the negative has now (2010) been placed in store.
