Tombstones outside Malé Friday Mosqu
A black and white landscape photograph showing tombstones at a site on Malé in Maldives. The foreground is taken up by a patch of grass-covered ground littered with stones. Palm leaves or some other dead vegetation can be seen in the bottom left corner of the image and round depression in the grass can be seen towards the right of the image. Some have low stone walls or metal railings around them. Beyond the tombstones is a building with a tiered roof. Other buildings, mostly with thatched rooved but also a building with higher stone tower, can be seen beyond, with palm treesand sky in the background. Original captions (handwritten): 'Male or King's Island (above photograph), 'Mosque & Burying Ground' (below photograph).
