Annotated profile view sketch of 'Boddam'

Bound with PAE9751-PAE9802, PAE9804-PAE9818.; Page 50. The 'Boddam' was a 1021-ton East Indiaman built on the Thames in 1787. Her 'husband' (managing owner) was the merchant William Palmer (?1748-1821) and she made six voyages to Madras and China: 1788-89, 1791-92, 1794-95, 1796-98, 1799-1800, 1801-02. She is last mentioned in Lloyd's Register in 1806. George Palmer (1772-1853), William's son, was 4th officer in 1791, 2nd in 1794 and commanded her in 1796-99. Later an important India merchant himself he was also a philanthropist and for 25 years Vice Chairman of the RNLI. He appears in DNB/ODNB. [PvdM]
