Two Kaags at Sea Before a Fresh Breeze

A scene showing fishing boats before a fresh breeze. Two kaags or fishing boats can be seen sailing the same course, the nearest one is in shadow and the furthest away in a shaft of bright sunlight. A buoy or barrel is floating in the right foreground and beyond it in the distance is a fishing boat with two men, probably attending to their nets. In the right background a ship is shown at anchor, flying a flag at the main. There are other vessels in the far distance on the right and left and land is just visible in the far right distance. The painting is signed ‘W.V.V.’ in round letters on the buoy.
