A two-decker and other vessels off Dover
The distinctive cliffs of Dover can be seen in the distance. Sailors are shown in the rigging and a number of figures are visible on the deck. A small coastal craft with a large pennant flying from the mast is sailing on the right of the painting. There are a number of figures on board. It has a mast and sail lowered from the bow. There is a great deal of other shipping demonstrating the crowded nature of the Channel.
