A black and white landscape photograph of Punjabi soldiers and British sailors on the deck of a ship, probably 'Emperor of Inda' (1913). The men appear in several rows, some seated, some standing. The Indian soldiers are wearing khaki uniforms and turbans. Three British sailors are visible, one standing in the middle of the group and two in the background looking over the shoulders of the standing men. A Union Flag on a flagpole is visible to the right of the image. A hatch cover, is visible in the bottom left of the image. A turret and the barrel of a ship's gun are visible behind the group. Original caption (handwritten beneath): ‘A VISIT FROM THE PUNJABIS / BATOUM’.
