Duke Kahanamoku, in shorts, with a surf board
An uncaptioned black and white portrait photograph of Duke Kahanamoku. He is standing in front of a surf board, his right hand across it and holding its edge. His left hand is behind his back. He wears shorts but it is otherwise barechested and barefoot. The surfboard, which is taller than him, has 'DUKE' across the front. He may be standing on sand. The branches of palm trees or similar foliage can be seen behind him.
Kanhanmoku (1890-1968) was a famous Hawaiian surfer and swimmer. He helped popularise surfing.
This photograph is a different image of Kahanamoku, with a different surf board, to ALB1755.181.
