Railway Jetty
Why this has the received title 'Railway Jetty' and a recorded suggestion that it shows battleships and cruisers probably alongside the dockyard at Portsmouth has yet to be resolved. It does not look like the South Railway Jetty at Portsmouth since, if so, the Round Tower and harbour entrance should be visible beyond, and it may not be Portsmouth at all. The ship on the left is the battleship 'Dreadnought' (1906) and there is a 'Queen Elizabeth'-class battleship - all five of these being commissioned in 1915-16 - immediately astern (right) of her, but the others are too indistinct to identify.
