La Droits de L'Homme a French 74 Gun Ship, ... attacked by his Majesty's Frigates the Indefatigable... & the Amazon... on the 13th & 14th January 1797

This coloured aquatint shows stern views of three vessels along side each other in a naval battle. Cannon smoke swirls between them and they all have holes in their sails. The French ship, Droits de L'Homme, is in the middle, under fire from both sides - the British Indefatigable on the right and the British Amazon on the left. Droits de L'Homme is badly damaged. Her missen mast is carried away and the lower yards swing free.

Eventually, Droits de L'Homme was driven ashore on the French coast. However, Amazon also suffered such damage that it too was lost.
