Getting out one of the large buoys for launching August 2nd. (Great Eastern)
A team of sailors on board the 'Great Eastern' letting out one of the bouys used to mark the position where the cable was lost. The position was 51° 25'N 39° 6'W, 1,062 miles (1709 km) from Valentia and 606 miles (975 km) from Heart's Content, Newfoundland. Was mounted with PAG8269.; No.4. Now mounted separately [7 Oct. 2002]
