Searching for fault after recovery of the cable from the bed of the Atlantic - July 31st
On 29 July 1865, with 634 miles (1020 km) of cable laid, another break in the electrical signal was recorded on the instruments. On examination, another sliver of wire was found to have been driven into the conductor core. There seemed to be little doubt that this was the work of a saboteur. Mounted with PAG8278.; No.10.
