Portrait of the 'Overijssel'. Built 1650. 30-guns. Obsolete 1686.
The 'Overijssel' viewed from the starboard quarter, in a light beam wind under main topsail and mizzen. The vessel's fore topsail has been lowered to half-mast and her fore-course is loosed in the brails.
This unsigned offset is lightly rubbed on the back. The hull, unworked with pencil, is an offset from PAH1769. The masts and sails have been offset from another drawing, which did not register accurately on the hull, and they have been redrawn in black chalk.
