Portrait of a captain, ca.1700
A three-quarter-length portrait with the head slightly to the left and the torso slightly to the right showing the unidentified sitter in a blue velvet coat wearing a grey perriwig. His left arm is swathed in a red drape, which is held in hia right hand against his hip. His left hand rests on the muzzle of a cannon. A private, two-decker with a pre-1707 ensign can be seen in the right background. This may be an ancesteor of Sir Eliab Harvey.
