Side views of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, Paris, from the Rue Imperiale (now Rue de Rivoli). Designed by Charles Percier and Pierre Léonard Fontaine, it was built between 1806-08 by Napoleon I after the Arch of Septimus Severus in Rome.

It was erected to commemorate France's military victories in 1805. The iconographic scheme includes bas-reliefs in rose marble showing the Peace of Pressburg, Napoleon entering Munich, Napoleon entering Vienna, the Battle of Austerlitz, the Tilsit Conference, and the surrender of Ulm.
