This Representation of his Attacking and defeating of the Florisant the L’Egrette and L’Atalante, these French Ships of War convoying Dutch Vessells with Provisions from the Island St. Eustatia to Martinico & ca. on the 3rd of Novemr. 1758. Is humbly Inscribed by his most Obedient Servant Richd. Paton.
Line engraving. Depicts an engagement on 3rd November 1758 in which the third rate Buckingham engaged with the slightly larger French third rate Florissant and two French frigates. Although the Buckingham was badly damaged, and her commander Captain Tyrrell seriously wounded, the French were outgunned and forced to flee. The Buckingham is shown in the centre-left of the image, slightly stern-on.
