The Jessie and Eliza Jane in Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope, 1829
A hand-coloured aquatint by Edward Duncan, after William John Huggins, depicting the Jessie (left foreground; starboard broadside) and the Eliza Jane (right background; port quarter) with Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope, in the background; it features the Table Mountain, and various buildings and ships. In the far right of the background can be seen a lighthouse at the bottom (Green Point Lighthouse?), and another on a hill to the left which is almost certainly Signal Hill; Lion’s Head is probably the hill behind it. In the right-hand corner of the foreground is a diagonal plank of floating wood inscribed ‘W.L[sic].Huggins’.
