Plan of HMS Nelson shows views and sections of a model
This print shows several views of the hull and deck plans of this 120 gun first-rate ship of the line, including cross-sections, in the style of a ship model with a base. Inscribed with dimensions on the left, and descriptions of the views, launch date and names ‘C Cunningham Esqr Commissioner / E Sison Esqr Master Shipwright’ at right.
The keel of the 'Nelson' was laid at Woolwich Dockyard on 14 November 1809. She was launched nine years later at Woolwich in July 1814. The launching was a gala affair with the Royal family in attendance, and over 20,000 spectators.
