Official ship's badge of HMS Glow-worm
Ship's badge of HMS 'Glow-worm' 1916. An official design with a naval crown and rope twist border. It is diamond shaped. The pattern was approved in May 1923. It shows on a blue field, a black lantern with rays issuing silver. The lantern was probably chosen as the insect was difficult to illustrate. The lantern is differentiated from that of HMS Watchman. The name is indicated as 'GLOW-WORM'. The badge is made of copper alloy, painted and drilled at the corners. HMS 'Glow-worm' was a river gunboat, built by Barclay Curle in 1916. She was deployed to the White Sea in 1919 in support of White Russian forces and was sold after the war in 1928.
