House flag, Bank Line Ltd
The house flag of Bank Line Ltd, Glasgow. A rectangular flag divided diagonally from top right to bottom left with red over blue. A diagonal white stripe runs from the top left to bottom right. The flag is made of a wool and synthetic fibre bunting. It has a cotton hoist and is machine sewn. A rope and toggle is attached.
Bank Line Ltd was founded by ship owner Andrew Weir (1865-1955), who became known as Lord Inverforth in 1905. The line was one of many subsidiary companies in the Weir Group. The company ran worldwide services, particularly to South Asia, the Far East and Australasia.
