Rum bottle

A clear glass, straight sided bottle, containing dark rum, corked and sealed. A label is pasted diagonally across the bottle: 'Splice the mainbrace issued to every officer and man of the fleet at Spithead on Jubilee day 1897.' Issued to Capt. Sydney Hardcastle CB RN, as a junior officer in HMS 'Prince George', when the main brace was spliced to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, 1897.
