Legend: 'LIFESAVING BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK'. Exergue: 'ICD 29TH MARCH, 1849'. Reverse: Inscription within a laurel wreath tied with ribbon: 'Presented to Edward Turner, seaman of British ship CENTURION in recognition of his courage and humanity in swimming at great personal peril to the drifting junk filled with American and British wounded and bravely helping to save many lives at Taku, China, 22 June 1900'. Legend: 'VITA FELICIBUS AUSIS SERVATA'.
