Aiguillette: Royal Naval uniform
An aiguillette that was worn by Royal Naval officers. It consists of a long strand of gilt thread that is weaved into various patterns along its length. One end of the auguilette has a shoulder strap with the royal cypher of King Edward VII (See UNI6610 for similar badges on the strap). The other end of the aiguillette ends in two decorative gold coloured metal tips. Attached to the aiguillette is a long black shoelace. The royal cypher of King Edward VII can be seen on the decorative tips and the shoulder strap. This aiguillette is believed to be part of the Duke of Windsor (Edward VIII)'s uniform that was possibly worn when he was the Prince of Wales.
