1914-15 Star
Awarded to Engineer Rear-Admiral Harold Hugh Huxham (1881-1968). A uniface star of four points, the upper covered by a crown, with two crossed swords entwined by a short scroll. Inscription: '1914-15.' An oak garland superimposed upon the whole. Inscription: 'G'. with a 'V' within it. Inscription Reverse: 'ENG. LT. CMMR. H.H. HUXHAM. R.N.' Fitted with a ring and red, white and blue watered-silk ribbon. Mounted on a bar with four others.
Rear-Admiral Harold Hugh Huxham served as an engineer officer. In 1917 he was awarded the DSO for services in vessels of the Harwich Force - notably 'Redgauntlet', during World War I. He retired in 1936 with the rank of Rear-Admiral but was recalled in 1939 with his old rank of Engineer Captain and served throughout the Second World War. He married Flora Dallas in Plymouth, during 1905.
