Victory Medal 1914-18
Awarded to Engineer Rear-Admiral Harold Hugh Huxham (1881-1968). Obverse: Winged Victory standing (front), a palm branch in her right hand, her left arm outstretched. Reverse: Within a laurel garland, Inscription: 'THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION 1914-1919'. Inscribed on edge: 'ENG. LT. CR. H.H. HUXHAM. R.N.' Fitted with a ring and watered silk ribbon of rainbow hues. Mounted on a bar with four others.
Rear-Admiral Harold Hugh Huxham served as an engineer officer. In 1917 he was awarded the DSO for services in vessels of the Harwich Force - notably 'Redgauntlet', during World War I. He retired in 1936 with the rank of Rear-Admiral but was recalled in 1939 with his old rank of Engineer Captain and served throughout the Second World War. He married Flora Dallas in Plymouth, during 1905.
