First Class Swimming Bath on the 'Aquitania' (1914)

Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914) showing the First Class Swimming Bath, on the starboard side of the Main Deck (E Deck). The pool ladders and dressing room curtains have not yet been fitted.

The ‘Aquitania’ was the first Cunard liner to have a swimming pool below decks. Transatlantic liners were expected to be equipped with all the luxuries of a hotel or a club, and swimming pools and gymnasiums soon became regular and indispensable fixtures.
