Launching casket
Launching casket containing a mallet and chisel. It relates to the launching of HMS 'Surprise' by Miss Scott of Tynemouth on 17 January 1885. A leather case lined with silk containing an ebony gavel and steel chisel both with ivory handles carved in a twist pattern.
