Ever Royal (1993); Cargo vessel; Container ship

Scale 1:150. A full hull model of the ‘Ever Royal’ (1993) an ‘R’-class container ship. The model is decked and fully equipped including a full payload of the standard sized containers. The hull is inscribed with ‘Ever Royal’ on both port and starboard bows, ‘Ever Royal Panama’ on the stern and ‘Evergreen’ along the ships side amidships. Built by Onomichi Dockyard Co. Ltd., Japan, for the Evergreen International Corporation, the ‘Ever Royal’ measures 294 metres in length by 32 metres in the beam and a tonnage of 53,000 gross. It is powered by a diesel engine and produces a service speed of 23 knots. The ship is fitted with all the modern automated equipment and labour saving devices and as such can be manned by a crew of only 16. Soon after it was launched, the ‘Ever Royal’ was enlarged to ‘jumbo’ size by inserting an extra midship section, thus increasing its carrying capacity to 4,229 containers.

These ships operate a regular round the world service and spend very little time in port as possible. The ‘Ever Royal’ is currently operating on the North Pacific route between America, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
