Crimea War Medal 1854
Awarded to Captain William Henry Fawckner (1829-1914). Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem, hair tied in a knot (left). Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA'. Below '1854'. Reverse: Victory flying (right) crowning with a laurel wreath a Roman soldier standing (left) with shield and short sword. Inscription: 'CRIMEA' (vertical, left). The medal is suspended from a foliated bar and pale blue ribbon edged with yellow. Bar: 'SEBASTOPOL' Inscription on edge: 'W.H. FAWKNER RN OCT 17TH 1854'. Mounted on a bar with four others in fitted wooden box.
