The star is surmounted by a silver castle partly enamelled blue. Reverse: Centre, on a gilt ground, a gold book, open enamelled white. On the left page the Portuguese arms and on the right the words "THE CONSTITITUTIONAL CHARTER OF MONARCHY" in Portuguese surrounded by a blue enamel band with the legend "FOR THE KING AND THE LAW"in Portuguese. Worn suspended from a blue ribbon as a medal.
