Watercolour by William Frederick Mitchell of warships on the North America & West Indies Station (N.A.W.I). This watercolour was previously dated as being executed in 1890, but the date of the depiction has to be sometime between October 1861 and July 1862, as all the ships depicted were members of the N.A.W.I. station in this period and at no other time.

The other ships mentioned are MEDEA (1833) paddle sloop; MERSEY (1858) screw frigate; BARRACOUTA (1851) paddle sloop; JASON (1859) screw corvette; MELPOMENE (1857) screw frigate; HERO (1858) screw 2nd rate; ABOUKIR (1848) screw 2nd rate; AGAMEMNON (1852) screw 2nd rate; NIMBLE (1860) screw gunvessel and the NILE (1839) screw 2nd rate and the flagship.
