Punch and Judy puppet: Mr Longneck
A glove puppet, part of a Punch and Judy set belonging to puppeteer Peter Butchard (1909-2009). The character has a long wooden neck wich goes inside the body and gradually extends. Longneck is described as being dressed like a courtier. The puppet has a wooden head, hands and feet with leather shoes. It wears brown and white check trousers and striped, knitted, black and white socks. The jacket is is brown devoré velvet trimmed with braid and with shirt buttons. The collar is in the same fabric as the trousers and the character has a yellow tie. The long neck is covered with jersey fabric, and the puppet has a moustache and wears a green corderoy hat with a brim and a white lining.
