An anti-slavery medal with a chained slave kneeling on the obverse. It has a legend reading: 'AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER', incuse, 'AG', 'Amo*DP', 'W*P*'. On the reverse is the inscription: 'WHATSOEVER YE WOULD THAT MEN SHOULD DO TO YOU, DO YE EVEN SO TO THEM.' The Society for the Suppression of African Slavery was founded in London in 1787 and most likely was the issuer of these medals.
