Metal label attached to main unit: CONTROL UNIT / PATT 8053 / NO A1545.
A voltmeter by GEC is attached to the top of the main unit.
Smaller box wired to main unit has readouts of Deviation and Variation and is labelled 'PATT 8122'

We believe this could be part of a ships gyro compass stabilization system. It would be used to input corrections for earth’s magnetic variations as the ship sails over the earth’s surface.
