Pill box
Empty pill box 'The ___ to be taken at ___. Sir J.H__ l' on lid.
This pill box come from a 14 drawer cabinet found in the Herschel family home in the 1950s. Collectively the contents of this and a similar cabinet seems to suggest that they were used by successive generations of the family to store specimens, material and apparatus for carrying out experiments. This pill box however is clearly domestic, having, according to the label, contained actual pills. The Sir J. H referred to on the lid is probably Sir John FW Herschel.
