Vickers Mark III
Vickers machine gun. A recoil operated, water cooled machine gun with link-belt feed. The belt would hold 200 rounds of ammunition. The calibre is 0.5in. The gun is in a wooden box numbered AAA2611.1. Inscribed on the object is '5" VMG Mark III 1934'. The Vickers Mark III machine gun was introduced in 1932 and used by the Royal Navy as an anti-aircraft gun and was mounted on board larger ships in quadruple MK1,1**,II, II* and III mountings.
