Club
A plain wooden straight-sided tapered club. Probably from Malaita in the Soloman Islands. Likely to have been collected by Commander Frederick Willoughby Shortland (1853-1931) who served as a midshipman on HMS 'Basilisk' Captain John Moresby, during hydrographic surveys in the Pacific in the 1870s. 'Basilisk' landed to take on water at nearby Santa Cruz, Solomon Islands in early August 1872.
