Lee-Enfield No 4 Mark I
Lee-Enfield No 4 Mark I rifle. It is fully stocked - the stock encases the barrel which screws into the body. It has a brass butt plate. At the fore-end of the barrel a steel lug is attached to which is fitted a bayonet. It has a steel trigger guard and magazine which holds ten rounds of ammunition and is a vertical detachable box. Bolt operated above the magazine. The barrel is rifled, fitted with a rear sight and blade foresight protected by wings. The calibre is 0.303in. The serial number (on magazine only) is L22529. 1942 1941 5' is stamped on the rifle along with two arrows and 'NS. .045' is stamped on the foresight and F.51 2 is stamped on the bolt.
