Pedestal table
Small octagonal pedestal table, made from the timber of HMS 'Royal George'. Made in dark and light oak veneers arranged alternately in segements. On an octagonal column and standing on four reeded scrolled legs, the base strengthened with iron strips. Set in top of table is a brass plaque engraved with a view of sinking of the 'Royal George' inscribed: 'Relic of the Royal George Sunk 1782 raised 1840.' Stuck on the bottom of the table top is a newspaper cutting from the 'Peterborough' column referring to the loss of 'Royal George' and research being carried out by Francis Welch of Seaview, Isle of Wight.
