HMS Erin (1913)

A starboard beam view of the battleship HMS Erin (1913) at anchor in Scapa Flow. The ship is being coaled and two thirds of her length from aft are obscured by the collier which has been made fast alongside. Erin's 'B' turret is trained to starboard and the guns have been elevated to assist in the coaling process by acting as makeshift derricks. Another collier is visible to the left of the picture, while in the distance to the right of that ship is a battleship of the King George V or Iron Duke class. Beyond Erin's bow and to the right are three more battleships which from left to right appear to be a King George V or Iron Duke class ship, a Bellerophon or St Vincent class ship, and an Orion class ship.
