Honour's Board

Honour's board decorated with a list of battles and actions of all the Royal Navy fighting vessels named HMS 'Surprise' from 1774-1945. In wood with a rope twist border. The ship's badge, painted in colour is placed at the centre of the top edge, the battle honours on a carved wooden ribbon: 'DOGGER BANK, HERMIONE 1799, CHINA 1856-1860, BELGIAN COAST 1917, ATLANTIC 1941-42, NORTH SEA 1942.' The lower part of the board gives: 'THE HISTORY OF SHIP'S NAME', painted in gold letters.
