Eight-day satinwood and mahogany longcase clock

An eight-day satinwood and mahogany longcase clock with a moonphase by Fletcher of Kerbymoorside.

The weight-driven movement has rectangular brass plates which are united by four knopped pillars. The going train has deadbeat pallets with a recoil escape wheel and seconds beating pendulum, the 'centre' wheel is offset so as to allow for centre seconds. The striking train employs a rack system with snail mounted to the hour wheel.
The 13 ¼ inch painted break arch dial has Arabic numerals with outer fifteen minute marks, concentric calendar circle (which does not appear to have ever been used) and moonphase to the arch. The corners are decorated with naïve depictions of the four continents and the centre features a detailed painting of warships engaging at the Battle of Trafalgar. The dial is mounted to the movement via four pinned feet.

The pagoda topped case has bold satinwood and dark mahogany veneers and is surmounted by three ball and spire finials. The hood door is veneered in satinwood and is flanked by freestanding reeded mahogany columns with brass Corinthian capitals. The trunk has canted corners and a shaped door with elliptical banding. The base has a circular inlay, satinwood banding and stands on bracket feet.
