Impression
Wax seal impression decorated with a depiction of Admiral of the Fleet Richard Howe (1726-1799). The seal impression is contained within a turned wooden box base. The words 'J. Wilson. Seal AND COPPER PLATE engraver 20 LEICESTER SQUARE. LATE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MR TASSIE visiting and complimentary Cards, Book Plates &c &c.' are printed on a label inside the lid of the box. Handwritten on the inside of the lid are the words 'Ad' Lord Howe. Painted Hall Greenwich 1841. My decd friend Ad' Bloye serv'd with him as midshipman', followed by the words 'Tassie portrait of Lord Howe see Red Wax J. Wilson cut the die for Mr Tassie?'.
