Watch in silver pair case. Thirty hour duration, single train, gilt brass four pillar fusee movement with verge escapement. Steel balance with blued-steel, flat spiral balance spring. Pierced and engraved balance cock. Tompion style regulator with silver regulating disc engraved with the Arabic numerals 1-6. Engraved on potence plate with the words 'F Brant', '326' and 'London'. Convex white enamel dial with painted scene depicting five British ships and bearing the inscription 'SUCCESS TO THE BRITISH NAVY' at the top. Roman hour numerals, dot minute marks and Arabic five minute numerals. Gold spade and poker hands. Silver pair case hallmarked 'London 1777-1778' with makers cameo stamp mark 'I L' (John Laithwait, 104, Gray's Inn Lane). Tall silver pendant with stirrup bow. Convex glass over dial. The pendant and bow are later replacements.
