Sword belt

Sword belt used on Nares' Arctic expedition 1875. Belonged to Lieutenant L A Beaumont, HMS "Discovery". Abandoned during retreat if H M sledge "Sir Edward Parry" along the North Coast of Greenland in 1876. Recovered by Dr Peter Dawes at Repulse Harbour, Nyboe Land, North Greenland 10 August 1966. Black leather belt, with a gilt metal buckle with a crown and foul anchor within a laurel wreath.
