Medal commemorating the expedition against Tangier and Mogador, 1844. Obverse: Bust of Admiral François Ferdinand d'Orleans, Prince de Joinville (1818-1900) in uniform and order (right). Legend: 'FR . PH . M . FERD . D'ORLÉANS PRINCE DE JOINVILLE.' Reverse: Four vessels and one in distance bombarding the town. In this expedition both Tangier and Mogador were bombarded in August. Legend: 'TANGER 6 AOUT 1844'. Exergue: 'MOGADOR 15 AOUT 1844'.
