Figurine
China fairing modelled as a full length figure of a naval rating in uniform of the Boer War period, inscribed ‘The Handyman’ on a base. The hollow figure is coloured naturally and the bearded sailor wears a blue jumper with sailor's collar and lanyard, white trousers and a blue cap lettered 'HMS Terrible'.
He stands in front of a gun, holding the open breech of the gun with his left hand and gesturing with the right. The figure commemorates the landing of the Naval Brigades in South Africa and the defense of Ladysmith in 1899.
